The Grand Rapids Griffins continued their busy off-season by agreeing to terms with Forward Louis-Marc Aubry and Defenseman Conor Allen on one-year contracts.
Griffins fans are plenty familiar with Aubry. He has been a member of the Griffins since the 2011-2012 season. More known for his grit, Aubry enjoyed his best offensive season in 2015-2016 by tallying 12 goals and 17 assists (29 points). He also set career highs in penalty minutes with 87 and also played in 75 games during the regular season. He played in all 9 Griffins Playoffs games and added a goal in the Division Finals vs. the Lake Eerie Monsters.
Aubry was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. He has also skated in 18 career games with the ECHL Toledo Walleye. Before going pro, Aubry was a member of the OMJHL Montreal Juniors from 2008-2011.iow
Conor Allen comes to the Griffins after spending the 2015-2016 with the Milwaukee Admirals, Binghamton Senators, and the Iowa Wild all of the AHL. During the regular season, Allen registerd 14 points (3-11-14) while playing in 66 games.
Allen signed a 2-year entry-level contract with the New York Rangers as an undrafted free agent in 2013. Allen has played in 7 career NHL games, all with the Rangers, and has 4 career penalty minutes.
Louis-Marc Aubry joins recent Griffins signee and linemate Colin Campbell who were both under contract with the Red Wings during the 2015-2016 season before signing a one-year deal with the Griffins during the off-season.
