Griffins Report: Griffins set to open Training Camp Monday in Detroit

The Grand Rapids Griffins are preparing to open their Training Camp on Monday, October 3 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit in preparation for the 2016-2017 season.

The Griffins will have 23 players who were members of the team last season in camp along with 13 more players who could make their debut with the Griffins this season. All of these players are still in camp with the Red Wings but should be assigned to the Griffins before the start of Training Camp.

The Griffins are expected to be joined by players Carter Sandlak and Jack Barre who both signed with Grand Rapids during the off-season. There will also be several ECHL invitees including A.J. Jenks and Scott Czarnowczan who have both suited up for the Griffins.

The Training Camp schedule is as follow (subject to change):

Monday, Oct. 3: 11 a.m.-Noon at Joe Louis Arena;
Tuesday, Oct. 4: 1-2 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena;
Wednesday, Oct. 5: 9-10 a.m. at Joe Louis Arena;
Thursday, Oct. 6: 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Joe Louis Arena;
Friday, Oct. 7: 10:15-11 a.m. at Griff’s IceHouse

Grand Rapids will close their camp on October 7, when they battle the Chicago Wolves. The game will be in Rolling Meadows, Ill and the puck will drop at 8 p.m. at West Meadows Ice Arena. Tickets are $5 and will be available for purchase at the door.

The Griffins will host the Wolves when they begin the 2016-2017 season on Friday, October 14. The games is set to begin at 7 p.m. and they will travel to Chicago for a rematch on Saturday, October 15.
