The Griffins were victorious last night by knocking off the Chicago Wolves, 4-2.
Scorning chances were at a premium to start the game, but Anthony Mantha broke the scoreless tie with his second goal of the young season.
Defenseman Robbie Russo scored his first goal of the year on a power play with 14.5 seconds remaining in the first. Mitch Callahan was credited with the assist.
The Griffins went ahead 3-0 when newcomer Matt Lorito scored his first goal of the season. Eric Tangradi fed a pass to defenseman Joe Hicketts who fired a shot that deflected off of Lorito.
Vince Dunn put Chicago on the board with his first goal of the year making it a 3-1 Griffins advantage. And then with just 2:45 remaining in the second period, Chicago cut the Griffins lead to one when Kenny Agostino scored on a power play making the score 3-2 Griffins.
But with under 5 minutes remaining, Evegny Svechnikov put the game away by notching his first professional goal. Louis-Marc Aubry assisted on the goal.
Grand Rapids finished 1 for 6 on the power play.
