Red Wings Game day Preview: New York New York!!!

Detroit Red Wings (1-2) Preview: Well That’s more like it, right fans? Boy did the team respond with vengeance. Playing the last ever home opener at the Joe and they did not disappoint. The crowd was electric and the players fed off the energy only us, Red Wings have when it comes to home games. Tomas Vanek so far is worth every penny we gave him so far. He is playing like a man possessed. Helm has proven himself so far that I will admit bringing him back so far was a smart move. Let’s not forget the man of the hour, Mike Green, first career hat trick as he finally busted thru that career milestone. Mrazek was sharp in net as he needed a bounce back game. Blashill did put the lines in the blender again and honestly, they looked good, even the defensive pairings played well. Tatar and Nyquist still looking for the first goal though and Larkin may be feeling the sophomore jinx to start the season. The Wings need to avoid those 2nd period mind lapses that seem to plague the team so far this season. Jimmy Howard get his first start of the season against a team he always seems to perform well against.

New York Rangers (2-1) Outlook: The kings of New York have started the early hockey year in good shape. 2-1 start and have looked good in their games. Recently they defeated Martin Jones and his San Jose Sharks by a score of 7-4. The King Lundqvist was not in net for that game, but is expected to be in net tonight. As we all know when the Wings and Rangers meet up, lately the games are all defense and goaltending as the offense on both sides seem to cool off. The Rangers are looking to finally get back to the Stanley Cup Finals so they can finally win it for Lundqvist. This team weakness so far this year is the lack of defense coming from their defensive players as they have had their defensive lapses just as the wings have their 2nd period mind lapses. Look for this one to be another tight played game.
