#FantasyFriday: Hot goaltending!

Hockey continues and goaltending across the league proves to be stellar!

On this spin of #FantasyFriday we will briefly discuss the trending goaltenders in the league. In order to better explain these analytics I will be using information from the NHL’s Fantasy highlights section. Before we move into those analytics there we are going to cover couple notable milestones and streaks in the league.

The Detroit Red Wings have posted their sixth straight win last night against the St. Louis Blues, with a former member of their squad, Steve Ott who played his first game against St. Louis since being traded which was also Ott’s 800th NHL career game. Ott, has not played too many games with the Red Wings but has already contributed with the organization with his first Assist with them. To continue with the Red Wings, starting netminder Petr Mrazek played his 100th NHL career game, in the same arena that Mrazek received his first win at as well. Forward Dylan Larkin posted a multi goal game against the Carolina Hurricanes this past Tuesday, which happened to be the first goals he has scored this season as fans were weary of his return in the goal column. Other Red Wings players who are to be on the rise are forwards, Tomas Vanek, Gustav Nyquist, and Darren Helmer. These guys have been doing well producing points recently for fantasy players and hoping to keep that in the weeks to continue as Detroit will look to continue their winning streak.

To also continue their winning streak, the Montreal Canadiens look to follow suit with the Detroit Red Wings. It was not to be ignored that when goaltender Carey Price returned to net for the squad. Price has not lost a game since his return back from the flu, looking to keep his streak going with the Canadiens. And as someone who personally has Price as one of three goalies, I can only hope that he keeps doing outstanding in net as was expected of him of other fantasy owners. The backup for Carey Price, Al Montoya, picked up his third win out of four games on Wednesday for the Canadiens and only allowed 6 goals out of 133 faced shots. Other goalies who are doing well for fantasy owners are the Minnesota Wild’s Devan Dubnyk who is one a 2-game shutout streak, and the Edmonton Oiler’s Cam Talbot who posted a huge shutout against the Winnipeg Jets at the Heritage Classic. Both Talbot and Dubnyk look to continue their success, especially as the Oilers look to thrive off of how well they are playing this season with a healthy Connor McDavid.
