Martin Frk is returning the the organization that drafted him. Frk was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. The Red Wings assigned him to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The Red Wings placed Frk on waivers right before the beginning of the regular season. He was claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes. He played in two games with the ‘Canes without recording a point. Carolina placed him on waivers on Monday before Detroit welcomed him back to the organization.
The hard shooting forward was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2012. He has played in 149 games with Grand Rapids. He set career highs last season with 27 goals and 17 assists.
The Griffins, who stand at 4-3, return home for 4 straight games. They will host the Iowa Wild on Friday and the Chicago Wolves on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7 p.m. for both games. Teemu Pulkkinen and Jeff Hoggan are expected to be in the lineup for the Wild and are both returning to the Van Andel arena for the first time this season.
