Jared Coreau turned in a shutout as the Griffins beat the Rockford IceHogs 3-0. The Griffins netminder stopped all 30 shots by Rockford.
This was was the 10th shutout of his career.
Birthday boy Louis Marc-Aubry got the scoring started for the Griffins. After a shot by defenseman Dan Renouf from the point was redirected to the corner, Aubry won a puck battle and moved toward the slot. Although Aubry lost his balance and fell forward, he was still able to get a shot off that deflected off of the goaltender Mac Carruth as well as defenseman Carl Dahlstrom for a Griffins 1-0 advantage.
The scored was 1-0 after the first frame.
The Griffins found themselves on the power play after a Viktor Svedberg roughing penalty with just under 12:00 to go in the second period. Criscuolo was on the door step and deflected a Joe Hicketts drive from high in the slot and tucked it just inside the crossbar for his second professional goal for a 2-0 lead.
Criscuolo nearly had his second goal of the night when the young rookie found himself on a breakaway but could not get the puck past the Rockford goaltender.
The Griffins put the game away when they extended their lead to 3-0. On an odd-man rush, Ben Street delivered a pass to Mitch Callahan who did a 180 degree spin and fed Matt Lorito who beat Carruth on the glove side for his third goal in the last four games.
The Griffins are now 7-4 on the season and will travel to Milwaukee to take on the Admrials this evening. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
