Red Wings assign Tomas Jurco to Grand Rapids for conditioning stint

Tomas Jurco will be wearing a Grand Rapids Griffins uniform for a two game conditioning stint.

Jurco had off-season back surgery and is getting closer to returning to the Red Wings lineup.

Jurco will be flying to Milwaukee to play Wednesday for the Griffins when they take on the Admirals. He will also play for Grand Rapids on Friday when they return home to play the Cleveland Monsters.

After that, Jurco will be available to play for the Red Wings on Saturday when they host Montreal.

Jurco is still only 23 years old. He made a decent impression during his rookie season in 2013-2014 gathering 8 goals and 7 assists while skating in 36 games.

The following season was not as successful for the young forward. He scored 3 goals and had 15 assists in 63 games during the 2014-2015 season.

Last season, Jurco appeared in 5 games for Grand Rapids during a conditioning stint. He was a part of the Griffins franchise record 15 game winning streak. He scored 5 goals and had four assists before being recalled by Detroit.
