The Griffins are back in action this evening as they travel to state of Wisconsin to battle the division rival Milwaukee Admirals. The Admirals come into the game 4 points ahead of the Griffins with a record or 10-2-1-1. The Griffins currently sit at 9-5.
The Griffins split their homestand with the Texas Stars last week winning the first game 6-3 and then dropping the second game 4-3. Matt Lorito stood out for the Griffins in both games. Lorito had six points over the two games and he was rewarded by being named the AHL player of the week.
The Griffins will look to continue their recent success on the power play. Over the last five games, the Griffins have scored nine power play goals including five total over the two game series with the Stars.
The Griffins won the first meeting of the season just a few days ago. Joe Hicketts scored his first professional goal in overtime as Grand Rapids beat the Admirals 4-3 back on November 12. The Griffins were in control of the game early jumping out to a 3-0 first period advantage until Milwaukee fought back to tie it at 3.
Forward Tomas Jurco is joining the Griffins for a two game conditioning stint that will begin tonight and conclude Friday when the Griffins host the Cleveland Monsters.
Tyler Bertuzzi and Anthony Mantha remain on the roster for the Red Wings.
Jared Coreau is getting the start in goal this evening. This will be his 13th start of the season.
