The Griffins will host the Iowa Wild for the second time at home this season. This game will mark the second time that Jeff Hoggan and Teemu Pulkkinen will play against their former AHL team inside the Van Andel Arena.
Back on November 4, the Griffins welcomed Hoggan and Pulkkinen back by handing Iowa a 4-1 defeat. Earlier in the season, the Griffins traveled to Iowa and won the contest 4-3 in comeback fashion. Hoggan scored the first goal of the game and the first against his former club.
The Griffins have been playing well as of late obtaining points in seven of the last nine games. Iowa comes into the contest tonight a much improved team since the last time these two played one another.
The power play remains a staple for the Griffins this season. They have now scored a power play goal in nine straight games.
Eddie Pasquale will get the start in net this evening while Jared Coreau remains with the Red Wings for the time being.
Following tonight’s game, the Red Wings are expected to call up one maybe two players for their two game weekend road trip. The Red Wings are continuing to battle the the injury bug. Justin Abdelkader is the latest player who is expected to miss a few games after he suffered a lower body injury during their 2-1 overtime loss to the Florida Panthers. He is projected to miss two to four weeks. This now makes seven players who have suffered an injury for Detroit.
Good news on the Griffins injury front. Eric Tangradi is expected to return to the Griffins lineup tomorrow evening when they travel to Rockford to take on the IceHogs.
The Griffins enter the game tonight with a record of 11-6-0-1 while Iowa comes in at 9-10-1-1.
Teemu Pulkkinen has a little bit to do with the improvement of the Wild. In 13 games this season, the former Griffin and Red Wing has scored eight goals.
