Calvin Heeter stopped 33 of 34 shots in his Griffins debut propelling Grand Rapids to a 4-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs.
Matt Lorito has another solid night with three more points (1-2-3) increasing his season total to 24 which puts him in a three way tie for second in the AHL.
Rockford jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Cameron Schilling got the puck through heavy traffic past Heeter for the power play goal.
Mitch Callahan evened the game just a couple of minutes later. His first attempted was turned away by the IceHogs goalie but Callahan followed his shot and collected the rebound and put the puck past Mac Carruth.
Matt Lorito scored what ended up being the game winner for Grand Rapids. Lorito entered the offensive zone and was able to get a shot passed the glove of Carruth for the power play goal. That power play goal marks 11 straight games where the Griffins have scored a power play goal.
Rookie Kyle Criscuolo gave the Griffins a little more cushion with a goal he was able to tuck inside the left goal post. Matt Lorito was credited with the assist.
With under four minutes remaining in the contest, Louis-Marc Aubry added a goal to give the Griffins a 4-1 win.
The Griffins will now head to Cleveland to play the Monsters on Tuesday evening.
Eric Tangradi had a couple of assists in his first game back from injury. The forward had missed the previous 12 games due to a broken finger.
Grand Rapids improved their record to 12-6-0-2.
