The Detroit Red Wings have recalled defenseman Nick Jensen from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
If Jensen were to debut, he would be the 159th Grand Rapids Griffins member to play in the NHL.
Jensen has been one of the Griffins top defenseman for the past couple of seasons. The 26-year old has six points (1-5-6) this season.
Jensen was temporarily called up last season by Detroit, but did not play.
The defenseman was drafted 150th overall in 2009 by the Red Wings. He has played in 222 career games with Grand Rapids and has accumulated 61 points (10-15-61).
Jensen is a native of Minnesota and played College Hockey at St. Cloud State. In 2012-2013 he won the WCHA Defensive player of the year and led St. Cloud State to the Frozen Four.
Detroit will travel to Carolina to play the Hurricanes this evening beginning at 7 p.m.
