Jimmy Howard to miss 4-6 Weeks

The time line on Howard’s injury has been revealed. According to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, Jimmy Howard will miss 4-6 weeks with a sprained MCL.

Howard was injured in Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay when defenseman Nick Jensen and Tampa’s Erick Condra collided with him in net. This is Jimmy’s second injury this season. Howard has been one of the few bright spots on an underperforming Red Wings with a Goals Against Average of 1.96 and Save percentage of .934. Although Howard doesn’t get the goal support from the Red Wings, he has given the team a chance to win in games he’s started.

The Red Wings will ride out Howard’s absence with Petr Mrazek and rookie Jared Coreau, will make his second NHL start against Florida. This is where the team will have to pick up their slack if they want to turn things around.
