The Griffins and their league leading power play unit will travel to Rockford to battle the IceHogs in another divisional matchup.
This game will mark the sixth meeting of the season between the two rivals. The Griffins dropped the first game of the season against Rockford but have won the last four.
Grand Rapids is coming off a 3-0 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals. Eddie Pasquale recorded his second shutout of the season. Both of his shutouts have come against the Admirals. All three goals scored by the Griffins came by way of the power play, two by Evgeny Svechnikov and one by Mitch Callahan.
The last time these two teams met, the Griffins dominated the match beating Rockford 6-1. Cal Heeter was outstanding in that game stopping 28 of 29 shots. Heeter will be in net tonight for Grand Rapids making his sixth start of the year with a record of 4-1.
The Griffins come into the game tonight with the best record in the Western Conference at 23-9-1-2. Rockford holds the worst record in the AHL at 12-19-3-3.
Matt Lorito, Louis-Marc Aubry, and Colin Campbell will all be scratches tonight as they are all recovering from injuries. Colin Campbell is expected to return to the lineup on Monday when the Griffins are right back at it against the IceHogs in Rockford.
The Griffins are playing the second game of their four game road trip. They will conclude this four game road set by playing in Rockford on Monday and will travel to Des Moines, IA to play the Wild on Wednesday.
