The Griffins are in Rockford for the conclusion of a two game series with their division rivals. Grand Rapids beat Rockford on Saturday night, 5-2.
Grand Rapids is looking to win their sixth straight game against the IceHogs after dropping the first game of the season 2-1 back on October 21.
The Griffins come into the game today at 24-9-1-2 and have won 10 of their previous 12 games. The power play is continuing to roll. The Griffins have the top power play efficiency in the entire AHL. The penalty kill has also been exceptional. They have not allowed a goal during the last 19 penalty kill challenges.
While holding the top spot in the Western Conference, they have been doing it with injuries to players like Matt Lorito and Colin Campbell. Jared Coreau and Nick Jensen remain on the roster for Detroit and will be for the time being.
Nick Jensen played in his 10th game as a Red Wing and he will now need to clear waivers if the Red Wings plan on sending him back to Grand Rapids.
Colin Campbell will be back in the lineup today for the Griffins. Eddie Pasquale will be in goal for Grand Rapids. He is coming off a shutout of the Milwaukee Admirals during their 3-0 victory on Friday.
After today, the Griffins will travel to Iowa to take on the Wild and then will be home for back to back nights on Friday and Saturday.
