Griffins Game Day preview

Coming off of their 4-1 over the Manitoba Moose, the Grand Rapids Griffins are in Des Moines, IA to take on the Wild in a 2 game weekend series.

The last time these two met up, Iowa won a low scoring affair, 2-1 in Grand Rapids. Iowa is playing well as of late. For the first time in franchise history, they have a chance to make the postseason.

Fortunately for the Griffins, the Wild are struggling at home this season winning just 9 of their first 25 games inside the Wells Fargo Arena.

The Wild come into the game tonight five games above .500 at 24-19-5-1.

With their most recent win, Grand Rapids improved their record to 30-13-1-2, still tops in the Western Conference. The Griffins are 8-2 during their last 10 games away from home.

Jimmy Howard left at the midway point of the third period during Wednesday’s game and was replaced by Eddie Pasquale. He appeared to have aggravated his current knee injury but had tests done and it was determined that it was not serious. He has been placed on short-term IR.

Grand Rapids recalled goalie Cal Heeter from the Toledo Walleye.

Eddie Pasquale will get the start in goal tonight for the Griffins. He is 4th in the AHL with a 2.19 goals against average.

Brian Lashoff will be out tonight with a minor injury. Matt Caito will fill in. Dominic Turgeon will be out tonight while Matt Ford returns to the lineup.
