San Antonio is having trouble scoring goals this season ranking 24th in the AHL.
Cal Heeter will make his 11th start of the season for the Griffins. He comes in with a 2.18 goals against average.
Veteran defenseman Brian Lashoff is expected to be back in the lineup tonight after he was hit in the mouth by a puck during the game on Wednesday.
Tomas Nosek suffered a minor injury and will be a gametime decision. Newly recalled Dylan Sadowy will skate in warmups in case Nosek is unable to go.
Drew Miller will get a rest tonight due to the AHL veteran rule.
Grand Rapids enters the game with a record of 32-14-1-2 which is still tops in the Central Division and second in the conference behind San Jose who they will visit in the middle of March.
