After last night’s balanced offensive attack helped the Griffins defeat San Antonio 5-1, the Central Division leaders will look the make it a two game weekend sweep over the last place team in the Pacific Division.
Last night the Griffins came out strong scoring three goals in the opening period. Not to be outdone, Cal Heeter turned in another outstanding performance stopping 32 of 33 shots. Between playing for the Walleye and the Griffins, Heeter has a record of 19-3.
The number one power play in the league was on display once again with the Griffins netting their 60th goal of the season while on the man advantage.
The offense is beginning to find its groove once again scoring four or more goals in six of their seven games since the All-Star break.
Tonight is the final time that San Antonio will visit the Van Andel Arena during the regular season. With the victory last night, the Griffins improved their record to 33-14-1-2, still tops in the Central Division.
The Griffins will be without Evgeny Svechnikov tonight. He suffered a minor injury during the game last night and is day-today. Nathan Paetsch will be out tonight due to the AHL veteran rule meaning Drew Miller will be back in the lineup tonight.
Eddie Pasquale will get the nod tonight in goal for Grand Rapids.
