Tomas Nosek is a Golden Knight! NHL’s newest team held their expansion draft during Wednesday night. The order was based on the final point total from this past season. Nosek would be selected 8th by the Golden Knights. It was reported that the Vegas Golden Knights would take Tomas Nosek, but it was officially announced during the expansion draft by Vegas General Manager George McPhee.
The 24 year old center spent most of the season with the Red Wings AHL affiliate, Grand Rapids Griffins. Nosek scored 15 goals and 41 points during the AHL’s 51 game regular season. He was a key player for the Griffins during the AHL Calder Cup Players (Grand Rapids would defeat the Syracuse Crunch in 5 games of the Calder Cup Final.).
At 6-3, 210 lbs, Nosek was a big bodied center who used his size to drive to the net and was an outstanding penalty killer. He only has 17 games of NHL experience under his belt, but has shown flashes of excellence during an 11 game stretch with the Red Wings last season. Nosek only has one year left on his contract which is set at $612,500 and is no longer waiver exempt. He will be a restricted Free Agent in 2018.
