Red Wings announce 2017 Development Camp dates and roster

It’s about that time of the year. No I’m not talking about Free Agency; I’m talking about the Red Wings development camp. Detroit announced its schedule and roster for their upcoming development camp that will take place at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, Michigan.

The camp is scheduled to begin July 7th and conclude July 11th. The camp prosiest of on ice skill development, off ice workouts, classes to help transition players into pro hockey, and scrimmages. Red Wings coaches and management will be in attendance and the trainings will be led by Toledo Walleye and Grand Rapids Griffins coaching staffs.  Prospects will be separated into two teams, Team Zetterberg and Team Kronwall. Both Zetterberg and Kronwall will not be in attendance. The roster was also posted by the Red Wings twitter account Friday morning.

All 11 of the 2017 Red Wings draft class will be at the development camp as will the 2016 draft class. This will be the chance for Red Wings fans to get a look at the 2017 draft class on the ice and participate in skills development. Last year 2nd round pick in the 2016 draft Givani Smith, impressed many with his play on the ice and caught a few peoples eye. Will we see one of the 2017 draftees stand out at this year’s development camp?
