The Red Wings are now turning their attention towards signing their restricted free-agents. Detroit inked defenseman Xavier Ouellet Monday afternoon to a 2 year deal worth $1.25 million.
The soon to be 24 year old defenseman appeared in 66 games last season with 3 goals, 12 points, and a plus 2 rating. He will be batting for a spot in the line-up this coming season along with other young defensemen such as Ryan Sproul, Nick Jensen, and Robbie Russo to name the few.
With the signing of Ouellet, Detroit can now turn their focus towards signing Tomas Tatar and Andreas Athanasiou, who are also restricted free agents. It’s been reported by Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press that Tatar would file for arbitration on Thursday.
