The Detroit Red Wings announced that they’ve agreed to terms with center Michael Rasmussen Saturday Afternoon. The announcement came via twitter and Detroit Red Wings website.
There are no specific details on the contract yet, however it will be a three-year entry contract deal.
The 18 year old center was selected by Detroit with the 9th overall pick of the first round in the 2017 NHL Draft back in June. Rasmussen will be skating with the Tri-City Americans for the upcoming 2017-18 season in the Western Hockey League. He’ll also be serving as the captain for the Americans as well.
At 6’6, 221 pounds, Rasmussen gives the Red Wings a big bodied center in their system that they can develop. He was also at the Red Wings developmental camp back in early July. It will be some time until we see Rasmussen with the Red Wings, however with him being the Red Wings highest pick since 1990, many fans will have some eyes on how he develops.
