Game preview: Minnesota at Detroit 

After completing the preseason with a 3-4-1 record, the start of the regular NHL season for Detroit is only hours away. Doors at Little Caesars Arena will open as the new, impressive arena prepares for their first sporting event.

The Minnesota Wild kick of their season as visitors, following an early postseason exit from St. Louis. 

Devin Dubnyk looks to be in the pipes for the Wild. Last season he finished with 2.25 GAA and .923%.
The Red Wings look to have a season of redemption. Something this team must work on is winning games in regulation, they had a low number of 17 games won in 60 minutes and don’t want to continue that trend.

Jimmy Howard will get the start. After a career year of 2.10 GAA with a .927%, the home opener position is a well-deserved one. Mrazek will serve as the back-up.

Time on the powerplay will be a huge factor for the outcome to this game. Detroit desperately need to get a good special team going, as they finished 27th last season. Minnesota was 9th overall at 20%. The powerplay groups will most likely follow as:






The game is scheduled to be NBCSN at 7:30EST and there will be a red-carpet event at 5. Tune in early for the players being introduced on the ice before the game starts.
