Detroit ended a frustrating 6 game losing skid in Florida Saturday with a shootout win of 3-2, thanks to Gustav Nyquist’s game tying goal and shootout victory. Athanasiou netted his first of the season as well.

Projected Lines:

Tomas Tatar – Henrik Zetterberg – Gustav Nyquist

Andreas Athanasiou – Dylan Larkin – Anthony Mantha

Darren Helm – Frans Nielsen – Justin Abdelkader

Scott Wilson – Luke Glendening – Martin Frk

Jonathan Ericsson – Trevor Daley

Xavier Ouellet – Mike Green

Niklas Kronwall – Nick Jensen

Jimmy Howard

Petr Mrazek

Detroit’s powerplay needs a real boost. Last year’s man advantage was nearly dead, a trend that seems to be continuing. Just at 14%, Detroit finds themselves near the bottom of the league again. Powerplay units of Nyquist, Zetterberg, Abdelkader, Tatar, Kronwall and Athanasiou, Larkin, Mantha, Frk and Green need to be effective.

These two clubs met on October 12, ending with Detroit getting a 4-2 win. A win against a struggling team is critical here, Detroit needs to gather points and wins early in the season to stay relevant in the Atlantic standings.

Play more disciplined and take caution with a team who remembers what winning feels like, who sure to be hungry for more.

Game time is 7:30. Let’s go Red Wings!
