Griffins sign Jordan Topping

The Grand Rapids Griffins made a roster move Friday by signing Junior League scorer, Jordan Topping to a one-year deal. This will be Toppings first pro season.

Topping has spent the previous four seasons playing for the Tri-City Americans in the WHL. He was a teammate of the Red Wings 2017 first-round pick, Michael Rasmussen , for three seasons.

Last year, the forward enjoyed career highs in goals (38), assists (42), and points (80). Topping has scored 30 or more goals twice while playing at the Junior level. He added 14 points during the post-season (4-10-14) before Tri-City was eliminated in the conference finals.

Topping played one season with the Cowichan Valley Capitals. They are a part of the British Columbia Hockey League. He scored 15 points (10-5—15) in 51 games.

The Griffins will open up the 2018-2019 regular season Friday October 5 when they travel to Texas to battle the Stars. They will open up their home slate on Friday October 12 when they welcome in the Hershey Bears.
